River's president, Jorge Brito, expressed his disagreement with the Ministry of Security, which decided to close the Centenario Alta stand of the Monumental Stadium for the next match against Banfield. Brito conveyed his rejection of this measure through his social media, emphasizing that the closure occurs as part of an administrative sanction that also affects the club.
In an extensive text published on his social media, Brito declared his opposition to the closure of the stand due to the historical reception that River fans held during a previous match. He emphasized that in other stadiums in South America, during the Copa Libertadores, such sanctions are not applied for similar celebrations, citing the case of Brazilian clubs.
Moreover, Brito took the opportunity to thank River fans for their support given to the team in the match against Atlético Mineiro, despite the club's elimination. He highlighted the exemplary behavior of the fans during the match, emphasizing their peaceful and united way of cheering for the team. The president of River praised the reception by the fans, characterizing it as an incident-free and non-violent act, in which unconditional support for the club was shown in a positive manner.
